Mr/Miss Youth Term's and Conditions

Definitions

1.1. Mr/Miss Youth (also referred to as Mr or Miss Youth), abbreviated to MMY, is a competition that is organised annually by the brand (“trademark”), SunAfri, and managed by SUNAFRI COMPANY (PTY) LTD. So, whenever this term is mentioned, it refers only to Mr/Miss Youth competition which is organised and managed by people working under the umbrella of SunAfri trademark and is authorised by SunAfri Company (Pty) Ltd executives or representatives.

1.2. Any other competition using the title Mr and/or Miss Youth and it is not presented or organised by our organisers under the brand SunAfri, is therefore not our organisation and we will not be held liable for any matters arising or contact made with any other organisation besides that of SunAfri, or the stakeholders or entity mentioned on the first paragraph, paragraph (1.1).

Eligibility & Acceptance

2.1. Mr/Miss Youth finalists must be aged 15-25 years on the 1st of June of the year the competition is held, or the year it will reach the conclusion of the annual event. (Finalists may be 14 years of age provided that they reach their 15th birthday prior to June 1st the year of the competition).

2.2. Mr/Miss Youth finalists and winners are not permitted to have or promote cosmetic fillers or procedures in any way during their reign. If a winner does undergo cosmetic procedures, surgical or non-surgical, he/she will be disqualified. Delegate shall be a South African citizen or reside in South Africa.

2.3. All contestants under 18 years must be accompanied at all events by a parent or legal guardian, and the parent or legal guardian should have signed a consent form before the contestant, under 18, participate in the event. The parent or legal guardian will bear their own costs for all expenses including travel and accommodation, unless stated otherwise by organisers appointed by Sunafri Company (Pty) Ltd executives or representatives.

Returning Contestants

3.1. Former winners of the titles Mr or Miss Youth presented by SunAfri are not eligible to compete again for the same title. Former entrants and finalists are eligible to compete again for the title of Mr or Miss Youth.

Gender

4.1. Both male and female genders are welcome to enter the competition.

Code of Conduct

5.1. Contestant shall be a person whose background is not likely to bring in to disrepute the Mr or Miss Youth, presented by SunAfri, title or the Licensee or the Promoter or any person associated with them. Entrant affirms that he/she is and will continue to be a person of good moral character; that he/she has not committed and will not commit any act inconsistent with the highest standards of public morals and conventions or that will reflect unfavourably on the competition, its representatives, sponsors and/or licensees; that he/she has not appeared in, or posed for, any matured content or pornographic photographs prior to, during the preliminary or contest finals, or during his/her reign should he/she become a grand finalist or Mr or Miss Youth, presented by SunAfri, titleholder.

5.2. Contestant will conduct him/herself in a courteous, professional manner at all times during the Mr/Miss Youth contest and while representing the Mr or Miss Youth title.

5.3. Contestant will not slander or libel other contestants, judges, Mr/Miss Youth staff or anyone else involved with or connected to Mr/Miss Youth contest. Defamatory verbal and/or written remarks against Mr/Miss Youth stakeholders will result in immediate disqualification, forfeiture of any and all prizes and awards won, and legal charges can be laid againt him/her.

5.4. Any Contestant found publicly posting slanderous remarks on public forums will be immediately disqualified.

5.5. Good sportsmanship is expected at all times. Disruptive behaviour before, during, or after the pageant may result in disqualification, removal from the premises, and legal charges.

SunAfri’s Mr or Miss Youth Entrants agrees:

6.1. If selected as a Mr or Miss Youth winner, contestant agrees to make appearances as summoned, throughout his/her year’s reign as approved by the director of Mr/Miss Youth, unless a written apology or substantial case is made via email or letter, and has been accepted by authorised organisers of SunAfri Mr/Miss Youth. Appearances may include but are not limited to parades; radio, television and newspaper interviews; and public appearances at events. Winners are expected to provide the organisers of SunAfri’s Mr/Miss Youth with photos of appearances for the contest on the website and for promotion.

6.2. If selected as a winner of SunAfri’s Mr or Miss Youth, they will not enter or compete in any other regional, national or international pageant or beauty contest during her reign. Winners are expected to give their time and energy to this title and this title only during their year’s reign. Permission for SunAfri’s Mr & Miss Youth titleholders to participate in other competitions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

6.3. If selected as a winner of SunAfri’s Mr or Miss Youth, contestant agrees that a contract will be signed pertaining to the code of conduct, appearances and work, including modelling, artistic work, television and film, that the winners undertake during their reign on behalf of SunAfri’s Mr/Miss Youth, and thereafter it will depend on the contract signed.

6.4. To look solely to SunAfri’s Mr or Miss Youth director/s and executives with respect to all matters relating to her application, rules, regulations, policies, preparation, rehearsal, performance and selection process, and all other matters relating to the preliminary contests and finals.

6.5. That the organisers of Mr or Miss Youth – officers, employees, and contestants’ personnel are not responsible for accidents, injury or theft incurred at the time of Mr/Miss Youth preliminary or final or travel to and from.

6.6. That the Mr & Miss Youth presented by SunAfri director & employees are not responsible for negligence or fraud on the part of the competition sponsors, judges, or contract vendors (e.g., photographer, videographer, etc.) who may be providing products or services to contestants and winners at Mr or Miss Youth preliminary and final.

6.7. That the organisers of SunAfri’s Mr/Miss Youth are not responsible for negligence or fraud on the part of the host hotel.

6.8. That the organisers of Mr or Miss Youth are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage caused to any and all prizes, gifts, and awards bestowed upon entrant after these items become the property of entrant. Entrant agrees to incur replacement and/or repair costs to lost, stolen, or damaged items including but not limited to: crown/tiara, sash, plaques, trophies, etc.

6.9. That prizes given by SunAfri’s Mr or Miss Youth sponsors to prize winners are not the responsibility of Mr/Miss Youth director & employees and Mr/Miss Youth organisers or the company cannot be held liable for any sponsor not fulfilling their prizes to winners.

6.10. That entrants under 18 years agrees that they be accompanied at all times during the preliminary and finals by a parent or legal guardian and they are the sole responsibility of the parent/legal guardian. They are not the responsibility of the Mr & Miss Youth organisers.

6.11. That the date/venue of the Mr/Miss Youth presented by SunAfri is subject to change and in such a case, the entrant is not eligible for a refund on any cost incurred, unless the organisers states otherwise.

6.12. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into or feedback given regarding the selection of semi-finalists, grand finalists or winners.

Deadlines

All deadlines for photographs, and contestant information are strictly enforced and must be adhered to by entrant.

Entry Fee & Payments

Entry fee – A non-refundable application fee is required depending on the age group the applicant/entrant is applying/entering for. This fee is used to process the application/entry and therefore cannot be refundable regardless of the entrants success.

The contest is divided into three(3) age groups and the fee is as follows; an amount of R120 for age group 15-17, R135 for age group 18-20, and R150 for age group 21-25.

Refund Policy

All fees paid for and to Sunafri’s Mr or Miss Youth competition are not refundable and not transferable in full or in part for under any circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to entry fees, advertising fees, contest admission ticket sales fees, guest meal fees and any other fees paid to the organisers of Mr/Miss Youth that is by anyone including, but not limited to, contestants, sponsors, and advertisers.

Payments

All payments made to SUNAFRI COMPANY (PTY) LTD are subject to a R20 handling fee.

Photography & Videography – Minors

Adults accompanying contestants who are under 18 years of age as of the competition date, authorise the right for Photography & Videography for Mr or Miss Youth contest. This includes Internet, websites, printed publications, all events leading to, and including, the Mr/Miss Youth presented by SunAfri contest.

Disqualification / Title Relinquishment

If contestant is disqualified or relinquished, for any reason, any title awarded to him/her, all prizes must be returned in full, and in condition received.

Travel

Only when stated or communicated shall organisers make travel arrangements on behalf of contestants, otherwise, contestants make their own travel arrangements. It is still the responsibility of the contestant or parent/guardian responsible, to make their own travel arrangements, organisers of SunAfri’s Mr & Miss Youth are not obliged for arranging travel or intervening / resolving disputes involving travel to the competition.

Hotel

Contestants are required to stay at the host hotel or any accommodations that is approved by SunAfri or by our company, unless contestant lives close enough to drive from home to contest events each day during the days that are chosen or summoned upon by the organisers of SunAfri’s Mr & Miss Youth. Contestants and their families must make their own hotel reservations.

Publicity and Promotion

By virtue of participation in SunAfri’s Mr/Miss Youth contest, contestant agrees to allow the organisers of Mr/Miss Youth, Sunafri Company (Pty) Ltd, the right to use his/her name, likeness, voice and/or biographical information for purposes of publicity and promotion now and in the future. Contestant understands that his/her name, likeness, voice, and/or biographical information may be used on the internet, in print advertising, press releases and merchandise related to SunAfri’s Mr or Miss Youth contest (e.g., t-shirts, tote bags, hats, other apparel, mouse pads, and other promotional materials.) Contestant agrees to release the organisers of Mr/Miss Youth presented by SunAfri contest from liability for any injury resulting from publicity and promotion. Contestant agrees to waive any and all compensation for use of his/her name, likeness, voice, and /or biographical information for purposes of publicity and promotion.

Agreement

16.1. SunAfri’s Mr or Miss Youth entrant agrees to abide by the above rules. If an entrant fails to abide by the above rules and/or brings Mr or Miss Youth into disrepute, a decision will be made at SunAfri’s Mr/Miss Youth director’s discretion. The director has the right to terminate the entrant/contestant/winner contract immediately, reclaim the entrant’s sash, crown and prizes. The director has the right to authorise the deletion of all photos containing Mr/Miss Youth presented by SunAfri sash & crown from all media, including but not limited to, internet, print, social media pages, associated to the entrant/contestant/winner.

16.2. Contestant agrees to sign a Code of Conduct statement indicating agreement to abide by the terms specified here and also the obligations & terms and conditions of Mr/Miss Youth presented by SunAfri. Failure to sign these statements does not in any way release contestant from responsibility to abide by the Code of Conduct and terms and conditions of Mr or Miss Youth contest.

16.3. By entering for/to Mr or Miss Youth the entrant/contestant/winner agrees to abide by all policies, rules and regulations set forth by SunAfri’s Mr/Miss Youth on https://www.sunafri.co.za and SUNAFRI COMPANY (PTY) LTD.

16.4. Participation in Mr or Miss Youth contest also indicates acceptance and agreement to abide by all policies, rules and regulations set forth by SunAfri’s Mr/Miss Youth and SUNAFRI COMPANY (PTY) LTD for Mr/Miss Youth competition. Contestant attests that all information submitted to the organisers of Mr/Miss Youth through the platform or any other medium approved the company is true and accurate. Falsification of information and failure to comply with the policies of Mr or Miss Youth may result in immediate disqualification and/or forfeiture of prizes won without benefit of refund in full or in part at the sole discretion of the director of SunAfri’s Mr/Miss Youth.
